  1. I loved it when the waves were crashing and beating the guy up. Made me laugh.

  3. Good Morning to all,
I haven't posted on the blog before but I just emailed Don & thought maybe I should share on the blog too to encourage, possibly give some insight to anyone who may be suffering from an injury & this seems to go with the video "sometimes training is hard". I have injured my quadricep muscle. It is a muscle/quad strain. My daughter, Jenna & I ran the 18 miles last Saturday. It was painful but I made it. The weekend was rough with alot of pain so I went to the doctor on Monday. She referred me to physical therapy. I saw Craig Thielen, PT at Cedar Valley Medical Specialists. He is excellent & has run marathons before so he understands. I was so very discouraged through the weekend thinking I might not be able to run the marathon & fear of the unknown. The "Gathering" message on Sunday at Gallagher did help to lift my spirits knowing that all is in God's plan. I am taking 600-800 mg ibuprofen every 6 hours to decrease the inflamation, icing it for 14 minutes 2-3x a day, taking a warm whirpool bath every night & having ultrasound & electrical stimuli treatments 3x this week. Craig said no running this week-walking as little as possible & resting. The mornings seemed to be the most painful but the last 2 mornings I have felt great-very little pain. Craig assured me that I would be able to run the marathon-YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even if he advises me not to run the 20 mile training run yet to come. He said many runners complete the marathon just fine with 18 miles being their longest run-including him. It's REALLY hard not to run but I know it's what I must do to get back. It really is amazing how much I have missed running-how it makes me feel & the connection to God that I feel every time I run. I have rested in Him & been more aware of what this journey means to all of us-how we are all working together to help those in need. It is a very powerful feeling-like we are truly helping God in His plan to reach & help others. It has also given me more empathy for those who have experienced injuries that may prevent them from running the marathon after all of their hard work. I just want to encourage all of us that we are working hand in hand with our great God. WOW-what an honor & blessing! This journey is so much more than running a marathon. We are changing lives-including ours. TO HIM BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!! Go Iowans for Africa:)
    Blessings, Bonita Davis
