update on Don

There were many of us after yesterday's race that were perplexed about where Coach Don was. We knew it was odd that he wasn't at the World Vision tent, but a lot of us just guessed that he was off somewhere helping one of our teammates or getting some dry clothes on or something...

Well, Don had a great race. 3:38 I believe. WOW. Post-race in the finish shoot, he was a bit dizzy and mentioned to someone that he had a slight tingly feeling in his left arm. Before he knew what was happening, he was escorted to the medical tent and transported via ambulance to the hospital. He was feeling better by the minute, but they wouldn't let him go til he was thoroughly checked out. Despite his attempts to tell medical personnel that he knew his body and just needed a little time and water, he was kept under observation and given some tests which checked out fine.

Don, we are so proud of you: your outstanding coaching and your great race. We're also thankful that your health is checking out, and though it had to be hugely frustrating to miss seeing others finish and not being there for post-race yesterday, we can be thankful that the medical staff takes seriously their job to make sure people are okay (I know you think maybe too seriously).

We will have a post-marathon party next Saturday morning. 7:15 a.m. for those of you who want to run an easy 5K together from church, and 8 a.m. for those who just want bagels in the coffehouse and time together to celebrate and share!

In the meantime, feel free to email me some pics and stories and I'll put them on the blog!
